July 7, 2002
Greetings, all!
Drew here. First off, thanks go out to each and every one of you who
made the reunion come alive. The turnout for both Friday night and
Saturday was tremendous! The committee couldn't have done it without
your involvement!
A few quick notes. The final committee meeting for the 20th reunion will
be Monday, July 8th at 7:30 and will be hosted by Bert. We'd love to
have you pop in so if you're interested feel free to reply to this
e-mail for directions, etc. but be warned...leftovers will be served!
Financially, we did great! the numbers are still being crunched but it
appears that we'll have roughly $1000 to put towards our 25th reunion!
That includes roughly $400 taken in donations during the weekend. Our
humble thanks for everyone who contributed!
Our thanks go out to both the owners and staff of The Circle Inn and the
caretakers of Camp Patterson! The reunion wouldn't have been such a hit
without these people!
Many of you asked if the website will remain online. Count on it! Well,
at least until the 50th reunion. Seriously, the site WILL remain open.
While the rest of the committee takes a well-deserved extended break I
will be busy updating it with all the pictures I took. Keep in mind that
I won't be able to get to it until I return to Chicago and see what
needs to be done with getting caught up at work. In the interim, if you
have pictures from the reunion I'd love to post them. Send any pictures
you have to
asinejr@yahoo.com but make sure they are under 1 MB in size (It's a
Yahoo thing). If you don't have any way of scanning them then I will be
more than happy to do so if you mail them. E-mail me for more
information.
Long term, I intend on completely rebuilding the site and possibly even
moving it to a new server. I'm still researching it and will keep you
posted as things change but the website will NOT be disappearing!
Memory books are available to those of you who weren't able to attend
the reunion. The cost is $12.50 so if you'd like one then e-mail Bert
Jensen at
rjensen@tensigma.org and she'll happily hook you up.
On a more personal note, I want to thank each and every one of you for
making me feel like I was home again. I know I didn't actually graduate
with you all but that was a non-issue with you and it made me feel
welcome. Thanks again!!!!!
Well, thats it for now. The final newsletter will be e-mailed shortly
after the final committee meeting with greater details and kudos.
Oh, and Pete Rodvick...your mom was at Camp Patterson looking for you.
Did she ever find you? Hehehe...
June 31, 2002 meeting (The final pre-reunion meeting)
Howdy One and All....
Not many days left, so I will keep this short and sweet!
Our final meeting went GREAT.... the best bunch of people to work
with.....ever! Nancy has us all on a schedule and we couldn't be happier
about that...because as you know, the mind is the first thing to go!
Reminders to you that aren't here or on the road yet...
(if you can)
Bring: Lawn chairs, alcoholic beverages (if desired), sleeping materials
(if you think you will need them!), 80's CD's and yourselves safe and
sound!
The committee will be setting up at the Circle about 6 on Friday, so if
you come early...we will be there!
We had an early reunion tonight at the meeting...Patty Adamson and Al &
Julie Schneiderhan joined us for the meeting! It is so great to see them
and it just got us more pumped for Friday and Saturday!! They have
volunteered to help out however they can this week...they are just as
swell as ever!!
I have about 8 people that have sent me their golf money...I will take
it out to North Links this week and get the tee times set up to start at
7:45. If you have already prepaid and you would like to golf 18 holes,
you can pay your balance when you get out there.
That is all for now. We will be ready for all of you!!! There will be
signs showing you the way out there for those who forgot the way or
never knew it!!!
Again, travel safely and we can't wait to see each and every one of
you!!
Until this weekend,
G'nite...
Mar the Chair
----------Notes from the webmaster (AKA Drew)----------
As of this writing, only....aww hell, everybody knows the reunion is
this coming weekend!!!
Alright, not much to do website-wise. I will be posting my cell phone
number (847 421-8756) on the site should any of you have questions
before or during the reunion. I'm hoping to post a few more of the
committee's numbers as well so keep checking back at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com for updates. I plan to arrive in Mankato
sometime Tuesday evening and will be available Wednesday for phone
calls.
I will be sending one last invitation to classmates.com to try to reach
those few people registered on there that we have listed as MIA.
The website will NOT be updated after Tuesday unless something critical
comes up. I expect to be posting pictures shortly after the reunion so
make a note of it.
Now for my checklist...
Tent....................check
Air mattress.........check
Portable recliner...check
Cooler..................check
Bicycle................check
Laptop.................check
Software...............check
"Bears" hat...........check
Ok, I'm ready. Let's kick this pig!!!
June 23, 2002 meeting
Good Evening One and All:
We finished our "almost" last meeting just about an hour ago and the
final details are coming right together, so nicely. I am very fortunate
to be able to work with such devoted group of people that are doing
everything they can to make sure you all have a wonderful time!
Nancy Williams is heading up the volunteer schedule and the committee
member schedule of where we all have to be at what times....this is an
important clue that at our next meeting will be held on Sunday June 30th
at 6:00 at Junker's.......it will be so VERY IMPORTANT that all
committee members be present!
We will be emailing out a cell phone number in case anyone has any
questions when they get to town. This number will belong to a committee
member who will know a lot of stuff!!
Mike Larson has been gracious enough to MC the brief program with me on
Saturday night.... I couldn't be more delighted!! Thanks Mike!
We have decided to grill hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and turkey
burgers on Saturday afternoon for our lunch. The cost of getting subs
out there was outrageous and we will be getting more for our money with
this new menu. Thanks to Mary (Klingel) Forsyth for taking on this huge
task!!
The Mankato Free Press will be putting our reunion information in their
column for "Around the Town" kind of stuff and Jeff Poole is checking to
see if KEYC will put it on their channel too!
We quickly proofed the Memory Book as it has to be to the printers
ASAP...Bert has already put a lot of creative time and effort into this
but there is some last minute doo dads that have to be done before she
gives it to the printer...Thanks Bert!!
Please bring any of your 80's CD's to the shindig for Saturday night. We
will have equipment there to play them on as background music...please
label, label, label!!!
We will be giving out maps on Friday night at the Circle to acclimate
you that are from out of town and have not been here in 20 years or
less!!
Again, thanks for all the calls and notes from everyone...good to hear
from all of you!! The committee is getting very excited about this event
and wants everyone to have a great time....we are working hard to make
sure that happens!
Call or email me with questions...
kmbcook@hickorytech.net
507.625.5679
G'nite for now and I will have the last newsletter for you about a week
from now to wrap things up before we meet again.
Sleep well all.....
Mar the Chair
----------Notes from the webmaster (AKA Drew)----------
As of this writing, only 10 days until the reunion! Are you getting
excited yet? The committee sure is!
Alright, I've decided that I'll blow into Mankato July 2nd in the
evening, the time determined on how early I can get out of the office
and hit the road. I'll be available via my cell phone at 847 421-8756
should you have any questions regarding the reunion or whatever else.
Call away. More cell numbers will be given out as we inch closer to the
reunion weekend. Note Mar the Chair's e-mail address and phone number
above as well.
Nothing much on my end to report. If you happened to be one of those
people who popped into the chat room and didn't see me there that is
because the committee meeting lasted longer than expected. My apologies.
If you would like to try this again then e-mail me at westclassof82@hotmail.com
and we'll set something up. I'm in the chat room more now that the
reunion weekend is approaching so if you have any questions or comments
or if you just want to say hi then pop in.
https://westclassof82.tripod.com/gradchat.htm
Be sure to bring your cameras for the reunion weekend.
I will be posting all the photos I can get on the website so I'll need
your pictures!
The final pre-reunion newsletter will be next week. Meanwhile, keep
checking back at http://westclassof82.tripod.com for the latest updates!
June 17, 2002 meeting
Hello Kiddies:
A brief, but to the point summary from our last
meeting and away we gooooo...not long now -- and all the footwork to
be done yet, could get interesting!
A big thanks to all that have sent their money
in...can't tell you how important that is for counting food and
books and getting badges ready!!!
*We have switched the afternoon 2-3 o'clock meal menu
to burgers and hot dogs....the prices we got for subs were
outrageous and we don't have that kind of money! Mary (Klingel)
Forsythe has kindly volunteered to head that up....thanks Mar!
*The next meeting is this Sunday at Rachel's house,
5:30. We will be talking about the program that Mike Larson has so
graciously accepted to MC with me! We will also be talking about the
volunteer list and what has to be taken out to Camp P for
registration and etc. We will be having a "proofing party" as we
will be proofreading the memory book to go to print. We will also be
deciding where to put signage so that people can find Camp Patterson
easily.
*Nancy will be taking care of getting the decorations
for the place...thanks Nanc!!
*We have a few people that have paid for golf and our
count is about 16, so that is a good foursome number I guess! Any
that can send their money to me the week before that would be much
appreciated. North Links doesn't want to get stiffed!!
*I found out that we can get into Camp Patterson at 7
AM on Sat. to start setting up so we should be ready when you all
get there around noon. We have to pay extra for that, but we feel
it's worth it!
*When you get to Camp P, if you have prepaid or are
paying at the door, you will recieve two tickets...one for each
meal/per adult.
*I am checking into possibly having some sort of
mosquito repellent that we can get so when they hit, we have some
protection.
*The Circle is all ready for us for Friday nite...we are getting
some responses that some people can only come Friday nite, so I
think we are looking at possibly two different crowds for the
reunion weekend too! Kind of the best of both worlds, you could say!
*The committee will be wearing T-shirts on Sat. so
that you can recognize them if you have any questions....no
whining!!!!
*I will be calling Jeff Poole to see if we can get a
PSA on the local tv station here KEYC to run the week of the
reunion. Bert is also going to call the free press to see if they
will put something in their "community events" calendar.
That is what is up for now. Call or email me with
questions/comments...thanks to all of you for your great notes and
emails...can't wait to see each of you!!
Bye for now, I will be in touch
Mar the Chair
----------Notes from the webmaster (AKA
Drew)----------
As of this writing, only 14 more days until the
reunion and counting!
I will be attempting to call in for the next meeting
like I did the last one. I have to say that everybody is excited and
all the hustling and bustling the rest of the committee is doing
just staggers my mind. Hats off to them all!
Only 24 hours left for making your intentions know as
to whether you would like to attend the golf outing or the brunch.
After June 21 at 3:30 I'll be pulling both the golf/brunch e-form
and the reservations e-form so get those filled out before it is too
late. If you miss the date then it isn't like we haven't been
nagging you about it. No whining!
A fellow classmate e-mailed me wondering if anybody
would like to hook up in our chat room and swap memories and I
thought that was a great idea. Sunday, June 23 after the committee
meeting ends around 7:00-7:30 I'll be hosting the chat. Go to
https://westclassof82.tripod.com/gradchat.htm and follow the
instructions. It is simple to use and free, of course. I'm trying to
be in the chat room more as the time to the reunion draws near so
pop in to say hi or ask me any questions you may have regarding the
reunion. If you don't get an immediate response that means I'm
actually working but I'll be back shortly. I'm also on MSN Messenger
as
westclassof82@hotmail.com.
I'll be updating the website accordingly with the new
info from above shortly. Also, on a lighter note, Jenn and I are in
hot water with the rest of the committee for pictures posted
recently on the website. You can view them by visiting
https://westclassof82.tripod.com/reunionphotos.htm so take a
peek. Comments can be posted on our message board. Hehehe....
June 2nd and June 3rd, 2002 meetings Webmaster
comment: Apparently the committee got confused as to when the meeting
was supposed to take place, Sunday or Monday. If they would have just
looked to the left...Hehehe
Greetings Guys and Dolls,
Not much longer now and you can catch the committee
in person and in action!! A lot has come together this week for the
reunion. But we also have a few IMPORTANT reminders for all of
you!!!
I have received about 10 or so more registrations
since our last meeting...thanks to you that have sent yours in! I
love getting all the notes and greetings from all of you. When the
reunion is over, the mail just won't hold the same meaning for me!!
You can see who is attending by v
isiting the
wonderful website that Drew has created for us at
https://westclassof82.tripod.com/confirmed_attendees.htm so take
a look. Remember, you can fill out your memory book information
online too. If you know of anyone who hasn't sent in their
registration, please prompt them to do so quickly, time is running
out and we would love to see as many of you as possible!! If you
won't be able to make the reunion, but would like to purchase a
Memory Book for $12.50...please email me at
kmbcook@hickorytech.net and we will send you one after the
reunion.
For those of you who are golfing, North Links would
like their money the week before the reunion. The green fees are
$14.00 and the money can be sent to me at:
Mary Cook
804 Nicollet Ave
North Mankato, MN
56003
DEADLINES THAT ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO EACH OF YOU:
June 15th - Memory Book info. deadline
June 21st - Golf or Brunch deadline
June 21st - Reunion registration deadline
We talked about decorations and again, we are keeping
it simple because more money is being spent on the location food and
fun!!
For those of you who have inquired about price: The
committee has decided that if you cannot join us until later in the
day at Camp Patterson, or early in the evening....we have decided to
keep the price at $30.00. Once again, we have to pay for the
location and the Memory Book and we want something in the kitty for
the 25th. We were lucky enough to start with a little something this
time, and you can't believe how much that really helps! It would be
very hard for us to keep track of who is coming at what time, etc.
at a place like Camp Patterson. Our money situation is OK for now,
but we need more responses to build up that kitty.
If any of you are interested in helping out on Sat.
with registration, running errands, or tearing down on Sun. (thanks
to those that have already volunteered)...please make sure you do so
on the website too. We are finding that our committee will not be
able to handle all that has to be done in those two days!!! We would
appreciate any help we can get!!! At the next meeting we will be
writing more checks and working out more details....we will be
working on the program and the duty roster for Sat. We really need
all of the committee members to be at each meeting from here on out.
We are excited about putting this all together and seeing everyone
have fun!!
Well, won't be long now...stay in touch...keep those
cards, letters and money coming!! Any questions email or call....any
one of us will be glad to answer your questions.
I'm pretty sure the next meeting will be at my house
on Monday June 17th at 6:00....we will wait to see if I can make it
to that one on the right day!!! See you ALL there!!!!
A personal note....this committe has been so awesome
to work with. They are putting their whole hearts into making this a
great day for all. I would personally like to thank them for their
efforts and talents thus far and am so lucky to have been part of
this big event!
Until next week, stay well and happy!!
Mar the Chair
----------Notes from the webmaster (AKA
Drew)----------
As of this writing, it is 29 days and counting until
the reunion.
Note the e-forms and related links:
Thanks to everybody who has been posting nice things
to say about the committee on the message board. We really do
appreciate it.
Fill out the e-forms if you haven't already done so.
We need your information ASAP. After the posted deadlines there
won't be another chance for submission since I'll be pulling the
forms from the site. Pre-registration is also encouraged so please
send in your money just as soon as you can!
For some of you out-of-towners who haven't been back
in the area in quite a few years, take note: The street layout both
on hilltop and downtown has really changed. The most notable of
these changes is the great big bridge that replaced the old Main St.
Bridge. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten turned around
and ended up in a bank parking lot with this bridge taking up all
the space. Also, the streets around West High have changed, making
Front Street almost an afterthought. The new Riverfront Drive is the
main drag for downtown. Hilltop has exploded with growth and Highway
14 is now an expressway, bypassing Eagle Lake and Madison Avenue
completely.
Don't feel bad if you get turned around. Happens to
the best of us!
May, 2002
Howdy Ho to all Classmates from Reunion
Headquarters!
We Need MORE responses....please send me your registration form filled
out and a check would be helpful!! This is the only way that you will
get your name on the updated "who's attending the 20th" list on the
website. You can send me a check and register online if that fits your
schedule too! We have only heard from about 60 of you....(less than I
told the committee on Monday...sorry). So, as you can see, we need more
and fast!!
We need any and all registration forms by JUNE 15th at the latest.
Please mail them to me or email them to us as soon as you can!!!!!! this
is the last date that we can have any information be put in the Memory
Book....so, please make sure (whether you are attending or not) to at
least send us the info. for the memory book! Thanks to all that have
responded in some way, shape or form...we can only hope it's catchy. I
am getting about 4-5 a week now. This week is much slower than that...I
am sure everyone is getting ready for Memorial weekend,
so I look forward to the beginning of June to be a busy mailbox around
here.
Our last meeting was Monday nite at Nancy's...thanks again Nancy...she
is so darn hospitable!! Bert, John, Nancy, Jenny Phillips (great to see
her!!), Rachel and a special phone appearance was to be had by Dave
Bouchard!! We found out that Bert is "cellular challenged" and when she
used John's phone to remind Rachel she should be at the meeting....she
dialed up a man at Lake Chatek...so they spoke a while and she
apologized for misdialing him, and just when she thought he was gone and
she was telling us all about it, she heard a voice from the phone...he
was still on!!!!! So, if any of you know where they offer "cell phone
101" please email Bert and the committee will gladly pay for her
tuition!!
Anyway...onto real business!! We have some details to solidify with the
dinner and the lunch people yet. John is working on T-shirts for the
committee so we will be easy to spot for those of you who need anything
or who want to volunteer for clean-up on Sunday!
Nancy and Bert are going around town this weekend and pricing
decorations and what's out there...just so you know it will be simple!
We would rather spend the money on the games and food for all. Bert
reserved some extra tables and chairs to put under the big tent. We will
have good signage out to Camp Patterson, so don't fret ! I am also
ordering a sign for the entrance of the camp so that you will know you
are supposed to be there when you get there!!! A printable map in .pdf
format is posted on
http://westclassof82.tripod.com so check it out if needed. You will
require the free Adobe reader to view and print it. The link to the
reader is also included.
We have started to work on the brief program that we will have on Sat.
nite. I have been chosen to MC, therefore I have also chosen a partner
in crime, but I will have to ask him if I can reveal his name first!!
OK, I will also have to ask him if he will do it!! That will come at a
later newsletter.
Jeff Poole has been kind enough to offer his creative talent and will be
making a post reunion video, made up of events from that weekend and
also the yearbook. You will be able to order these when you register.
The cost of the video will only be the cost of the tape - Jeff is
volunteering to film it and put it all together on his own time !!
Thanks so much Jeff...this was a great idea and I think that it will
interest a lot of people!
If any of you have anything in particular that you would like to see in
the brief program on Sat. nite, please let me know. Email or call, I
would love to hear from you! 507 625-5679. Drew will also be setting up
an e-form for your convenience.
Let's see if I can get this right this time....Our next meeting is
Sunday, June 2nd at 6:30 at Nancy's again...she is so gracious!
One last very important note...thanks to you who have donated money but
can't be at the reunion...that is so thoughtful and we are going to make
sure that you get a memory book sent to you.
Again...we need more responses...please try to make that June 15th
deadline and am so hoping we can have a good turnout!! We are sad to see
the "no's", but are so glad to hear from all of you!!
Until Later...Stay well Ya'll...
Mar the Chair
P.S. At the meeting on Monday, I think it was Jenny who said that it was
only 45 days until the reunion....and a hush fell over the crowd!!!!
---------Notes from the Webmaster (AKA Drew)----------
As of this writing, it is 42 days until our reunion and counting!
Please note the deadline Mar specified in getting us your information
for the Memory Book. June 15th is the last day we can accept your info
so PLEASE either fill out the card and send it in or stop by
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and fill out the e-form, whether you
are able to attend or not. After June 15 I will be removing that e-form
from the site so take a few minutes and fill it out.
You may or may not be aware but as Mary mentioned, the committee won't
post your name unless you've paid in advance. Personally, I'd like to
see your names on the list as well as easing the pocketbooks of the
committee. PLEASE send in your registration fee in advance. Remember,
$30 for single, $60 for your partner/children. It is a great deal so act
now! (Jeez, I sound like a commercial)
Also on the website are other e-forms for volunteering to help and
whether you wish to attend the golf outing, brunch at Charley's or if
you plan on lying around like a slug. If you haven't already filled
these out, take a few more minutes to do so, especially the Golf or
Brunch e-form because Mary (Klingel) Forsyth and Colleen (Yee) Swedburg
need some numbers to work with on how many to feed. My special thanks to
them both for the legwork involved in setting up the brunch!
You'll notice that the next meeting date of Sunday, June 2nd is rapidly
approaching. E-mail Nancy from
http://westclassof82.tripod.com for directions to her home. The
meetings will be held more often now as the date of the reunion draws
near so get involved and keep checking your mailbox and the website for
updates! I've been kept pretty busy with the Compaq/H.P. merger but will
update the site as time permits. So much for the boredom at the office.
Also take note that I'm planning on removing some of the older stuff
from the site to make room for pictures submitted by you so be sure to
bring your cameras, especially digital ones. I'm in discussions with a
person who owns his own server to possibly move our site to his server.
Unlimited storage, e-mail, etc. More to come on that.
Have a great holiday weekend!
April, 2002
Good Day to One and All!
Good news from the reunion front...we are getting some responses back
and the majority of them are "yes"!!! I have had a chance to speak with
a couple of you classmates on the phone and it sure makes me anxious for
July!! Although we have a ways to go yet, things are shaping up into
what is looking like just a fine time for all !! We are always sad to
see any "no" responses, but understand and just hope that if you aren't
able to make it that you send us your information on what is going on
for the memory book!! Drew has set up an online form to make it easier
for you to get us your information so stop by
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and click on the "For the Memory
Book" link!!
We had a good meeting on Sunday. Thanks Bert for the hospitality and
thanks for bringing that cute Alexia, Nancy!! She is the most adorable
thing with red hair!! (other than Jeff Johnson) (I told him I would say
that!!)
The May 1st deadline has come and gone for the $50 deadline...so way to
go to those of you who made it and you others...just send me the
money!!! I am open to bribery, but am not a good barter type gal...so
take your chances!! If you know of anyone who hasn't gotten a mailing
because of an address oversight, please let us know as soon as possible.
Thanks to all who have helped us find some of our MIA's!
We have changed the eating times to around 3:00 for the subs and 8:00ish
for the hog roast. This should let everyone get checked in and settled a
bit before subs and let the kids get settled in before the classmates
have a hog roast/bon fire extravaganza!!! Please plan accordingly!
We have many land games and activities planned for the kids, and we
think that there is a water volleyball net in the lake too!! The water
and Camp Patterson facility is what you are also paying for, so please
bring your boats and water fun stuff to enjoy all day!! We are planning
on a wonderful day of weather because ...."We're the best
we're better than you...we're the class of "82"!!!!!!!!!
I spoke with Jeff Johnson about the golf outing and we will have that
under control soon. He decided to make it more of a social gathering
rather than a tournament...so that people that golf as poorly as I do,
won't go into hiding for the rest of the day!! More details will come
with that at a later date. As for the brunch, it has been decided to
have it at Charley's Resaurant and Grill on Madison Avenue. A very
special thanks to Colleen (Yee) Swedberg and Mary (Klingel) Forsyth for
the legwork that was involved! This will be the alternative to the golf
outing and Charley has been very helpful by closing off the back room
which seats 50. The cost for this will be $7 per person. We'll be
meeting there between 10:00 and 11:00. He will even be setting up a
seperate buffet for us! Again, thanks to Charley as well as Colleen and
Mary! We need to know what you want to attend Saturday morning so Drew
has set up yet another form on the website. Just click on the "Golf or
Brunch" link!!
We talked about signage and directions to Camp Patterson. Bert and I are
on that! Drew has posted a scanned map of the area in .pdf format. It is
printable but you will need the free Adobe Acrobat reader to view and
print the map. Click on the "Reunion Info!" link for details.
We volunteered Annette for the decorations...she probably just found
that out...I will be in touch with her too!
We will have a large tent canopy out there, in case there is just too
much sun for all of us...Bert is checking into prices for tables and
chairs to have under that also.
John is working on T-shirts for the committee members so that we will be
easy to spot if you all need something...but NO WHINING!!!!!
My sister volunteered our karoke machine for our music background and
announcements. And if anyone gets brave, I know how to run it when you
want to sing!! We are planning on just having cd's play in the
background...it is a good system, so the sound will carry nicely! Please
bring any 80's cd's that you would like us to play...label them and we
will play them all nite!! There is no limit to dancing and laughing all
nite if that's what it takes!!
We are all very excited about this and know that the next two months
will go very fast!!
Let us know if you all think of anything else. We are getting good
responses for Friday nite too. Some that can't come on Saturday will be
able to join us Friday...so make sure to come if you can! If for any
reason you can't attend the whole reunion but would like to pop in for a
few hours Saturday then that would be great and you won't be charged.
We've only gotten about 40 to 50 responses...so if you can help us boost
that up, we would appreciate it via either regular mail or online!
The next reunion meeting will be held at Nancy William's home on May 28
at 6:30. Go to the website and click on the link to the left to e-mail
Nancy for directions. All are invited to attend!!
Hope this letter finds everyone well. Not long now...I better catch up
on my sleep before that nite....it may just be a doosey!!
I will be in touch !!
Mar
----------Notes from the webmaster (aka Drew)----------
Howdy!
In addition to the online forms already mentioned I've included a
volunteer form. If you'd like to assist the committee then drop by
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and click the "Volunteers Needed"
link. any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was also asked to remind everybody that we will NOT be serving
alcohol. This will be a BYOB (bring your own booze) event due to legal
concerns.
As of this writing it is 63 days until the reunion and counting. Be sure
to submit your information for the memory book whether you'll be
attending or not. The sooner we can finish getting the memory book put
together the better.
In the coming weeks I will be posting the names of the confirmed
attendees on the site. I've had numerous e-mails from you all asking me
so as soon as I have the information I will be posting it.
As the time to the reunion draws closer there will be more updated
information posted on the website so be sure to check back often.
Feel free to drop us an e-mail if you have any questions, comments,
concerns or whatever. (just no whining!!) We answer all e-mail and want
to make this a great experience for everybody!
On a personal note...there is NOT enough alcohol to get me in front of a
karoke machine!
March, 2002
Greetings one and all!
Drew Sine here. I'm filling in for Mary Cline Cook with the newsletter
this month while she and her husband pursue the ultimate sunburn south
of the border. Mary, when you get this we all hope you are burnt to a
crisp considering the ice storm we had here.
I actually attended the committee meeting and despite the last e-mail
where Mary said I was the featured speaker I mostly just got caught up
on the finer details of what is actually involved in planning this
reunion. I have to tell you that I was very impressed with what the
other committee members have to do and I was a bit overwhelmed. Keep in
mind that after Mary attends the meeting she writes up the newsletter
and I just do the cut-and paste thing. I really had no clue as to what
is involved and my hat is off to Mary, Rachel, Roberta, Dan, John,
Sandy, Jenn, Ron, Annette and Mary Klingel Forsyth for all the work they
have done!
Now, on to business. A few of the finer details regarding entertainment
were confirmed. There will be a Giant Twister game, a bounce house
compatible even for adults, bingo blower and slide cards and a golf
challenge as well as snow-cones! We are also looking into a dunk tank. I
personally am rather leery of the tank because I have a funny feeling
that the committee will be the ones dunked. Which brings me to a
question to be posted on the website when I return to the office
Tuesday: If we come up with a dunk tank, who do you feel should be
dunked? Your answer could be anybody...a classmate, a teacher, your
spouse? When the question is posted on
http://westclassof82.tripod.com then we want to hear from you!
We are also looking at face painting for the kids. Several classmates
have volunteered their daughters for painting the faces and if you have
kids that do that then we want you to drop us a line.
Another big thing that has happened is that we have sent out our second
mailing. We urge you to fill out the detachable portion of the card and
return it even if you can't make it to the reunion. This information
will be used for our memory book. If you didn't get the card then please
e-mail us at
westclassof82@hotmail.com so we can update your info!
As the card states, the cost for attending will be $25.00 per single,
$50.00 per couple if payment is made before May 1st. After that, the
cost rises to $30.00 per single and $60.00 per couple. We urge you to
send in your payment as soon as you can. Kids are free of course! This
information will also be posted on the site. I will be looking into the
possibility of online payments on the website when I return. If you
haven't gotten a mailing form the committee by the end of March, please
e-mail us at
westclassof82@hotmail.com so we can get you a card. We also want to
stress that we want your current address so if you haven't already done
so, hit our site and update us with your mailing address.
We have pretty much set our schedule of events. On Friday, July 5, we
all will be meeting at the Circle Inn in North Mankato 8:00 PM to close.
The committee will be serving chips-and-dip. The Circle Inn is located
in North Mankato on Belgrade Ave. just off from the bridge crossing the
river. (don't get me started on that bridge...)
Saturday we will be meeting at Camp Patterson on Lake Washington. I will
be posting a map on the website on how to get there so keep checking
back. Check-in will begin at 12:00 but we are planning a golf outing for
the golfers from 8:00 to 12:00 and for us non-golfers a brunch is being
planned. I posted a poll on the website as to what you wanted to do and
doing brunch is the popular idea so now I will be posting a poll asking
you where you'd like to do brunch at. The committee assigned me the task
of finding somewhere to go so I need help in this. Remember, I live in
Chicagoland and I have no clue as to where to go so I really need your
help!
We are planning to do lunch around 1:00 by serving subs. We thought this
the best idea considering the golf outing and the brunch. Dinner will be
a hog roast around 7:00.
After much deliberation we decided that any alcohol should be BYOB
(Bring Your Own Booze) because of possible legal issues. After
consulting with lawyers and insurance carriers we decided this was the
best course of action for all involved. We ask you all that if you do
BYOB please be responsible and make arrangements for transportation
rather than driving yourself. There are cabins and campgrounds available
so please keep them in mind when planning the weekend. Ignore the fact
that I might be walking around with a camera to catch you at your best.
<evil grin>
8:00 PM to whenever will be for the adults to sit around and remember
the glory days of our youth. Expect a bonfire!
Checkout on Sunday will be posted when I get the information. I
completely forgot to ask at the meeting. My apologies.
This is also the final push to find our MIAs. We have roughly four
months until the reunion and we need to concentrate on the reunion
itself. We are asking all of you to please visit
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and click on the MIA link on the
left. While we hate to leave anybody uninformed on the reunion we also
need to concentrate on the reunion itself so please...if you have ANY
information on anybody on the list please let us know.
Also on a sad note, we also recognize that two of our classmates are no
longer with us, Bob Haas and Annette Sargent. If you are aware of any of
our classmates that are no longer with us then please e-mail us with the
information so we can include them in our memory book.
Well, that is about it for now. My apologies for the length of this
newsletter. The next meeting will be at Roberta Jensen's home on April
28 at 6:00 PM. Check back at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com for information on contacting her to
attend the next meeting. We can sure use your help as the time draws
near. Also, as things come together we'll need volunteers to help
wherever they can but I can promise you that it will be a blast. Please
drop us a line and offer your services!
It was great being in town again but the changes really have me thrown
for a loop! I am really tired of taking a wrong turn and getting turned
around! I am such a tourist!!!
On a personal note, a special thanks to Rachel for the wonderful
hospitality she extended us at her home! Thanks for the pizza and beer,
Rach! Cute kids, too!!!!!
I hit the road Monday morning for the 6 1/2 hour drive but I'll return
soon! I had a great weekend! Thanks to everybody who made me feel
welcome! Sometimes you CAN go home again!
See you at the reunion!!!!
Drew
February, 2002
Good March Everyone!
I am writing a bittersweet newsletter tonite. Some good news to report
on the reunion side and some very sad news to report from our classmate
side of things. We found out that Annette Sargent passed away at the end
of Feb. in CO. We don't know anymore details than were found in the
Mankato Free Press at that time. I know that I speak for many of us in
saying that it is a very sad loss. *We must get on with getting' on ....
So, before I begin my newsy letter, I must apologize to the committee
for my procrastination. My hubby and I are finally going on our
honeymoon (3 1/2 years later) to Ixtapa,Mexico on Wed. the 13th. I HAD
to prepare 6 pages of notes for the sitters, which seemed to
take up much of my time lately. So, the committee suffered and in the
end, so do my sitters, for having to sit through a brief meeting and
reading of all those notes ! Don't tell me some of you haven't gone thru
anything like this....I know that I am not alone, just a little anal
about the whole deal. Having a 1 1/2 year old to leave behind to torment
my nieces and nephews is a lot to document!
So, here we go....
Our last meeting was held on the 4th at Nancy Williams' house to
assemble the first mailing with details and costs...it should be mailed
out during this week and some time to follow. There is a lot of info. in
it and it also has much detail about the weekend's events. We are still
asking you to fill this form out and mail it back even if you cannot
attend. It is very important to have your personal information to put
into the memory book. We are hoping that you can be there, but know that
there are many things going on that time of year....all we can do is ask
that you send it back if you are not attending...thanks!!
We checked into renting games for the kids and adults and came up with a
$500.00 package of assorted fun that "Fun Stuff Rental" will be happy to
deliver and set up out at Camp Patterson. We have put 1/2 the money down
on this to hold it for our event on Sat. Because our check in time at
Camp Patterson is noon, we will be having a later mid-afternoon lunch
around 3. We have a couple of the committee members checking into
pricing and possibly having a hog or so donated for this feeding. This
will include many extras....We then decided to have subs and extras
delivered to us around 9 on Sat. evening. We are toying with the idea of
having the festivities be a "bring your own" type of deal for alcohol.
We are checking into insurance and liability if we provide and are
wondering if it is worth it, or just have everyone bring their own and
we will provide pop and coffee...this is still out for discussion.
Jeff Johnson will be organizing the golf outing and I imagine that we
will be hearing more about that in the future, when the courses really
open!!
We are asking you to take a look at the MIA list if you get a chance and
let us know if you have any addresses to add. We are doing really well
on getting them, but don't want to miss anyone if we can help it.
Well...enough reading material for one evening. Please make sure to send
your response back as soon as you can. Let us know if you are in the
area for a meeting .... Speaking of which...the next meeting is the 17th
at Rachel's house. Drew will be the guest speaker and if they don't get
too technical...some more decisions should be made. I will get the
details when I get back from the place where it's always sunny and 95
!!! Really !!
Adios mi Amigos....M
--------Notes from the webmaster (AKA Drew)-----
Guest speaker my @$$...I'm there for the promised St. Patty's day party.
I was promised plenty of "refreshments" I'm kidding, of course. I'm
looking forward to the meeting and will be in Mankato and Bloomington
this coming weekend so stop by the meeting and say hi.
I share some sadness regarding Annette Sargent's passing. She and
another friend held me hostage one warm spring afternoon in front of
Hardee's and proceeded to french braid my long hair. Every time I tried
to move they would yank my hair, preventing me from moving. At the time
I was glad there were no pictures taken but now I wish there was a
picture or two.
The site will be updated with the most current list of MIAs so please
take a look at the list and help up in locating them if you can. With
over 2100 hits on our site it tells us that you all are checking in for
the latest updates and we'll be sure to give you those updates as we get
them.
Please make sure we have your up-to-date contact information. There are
several online forms you can fill out that will be sent to the committee
so if you haven't done so already, take a few minutes and visit
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and bring us up to date. Also, visit
the message board and say hi.
Ok, time to head to the office for 8 hours of boredom. hope to see you
all at the next committee meeting on the 17th at Rachel's house.
Mary, have fun in the sun with your hubby!
January, 2002
The Reunion committee hopes everyone had a safe and
warm (for you Northerners!) Holiday Season...may 2002 bring us all
together - happy and healthy!
We just had our first meeting of 2002 and have the ball rolling once
again. We had a chance to visit with Drew over the Holidays too...he was
in town so whoever was able met at the Circle for a tiddly and Paul
Groebner bought us a round too!!! We knew he was good for something at
the reunion planning headquarters...we didn't let him off very cheaply
either!! That was very nice of him...thanks Paul and thanks Drew for all
of you work on the website...we discussed tonite how much of a lifesaver
it is!!!
We have made some decisions and tossed around some more ideas about the
reunion. We are still open for suggestions and still need to know some
missing MIA's out there...so please check the MIA list and let us know
some addresses if you could! Also, feel free to email us and let us know
what you are thinking about any of our ideas, etc.! We are getting down
there in time and would like our next mailing to go out in Feb. asking
for reservations. We will give a response deadline and a cost of the
whole shibang too.
Our next meeting is Feb. 10th - location unknown until I get a hold of
Sandy Mohr!! (hint, hint)
Again, any and everyone who is available around here is more than
welcome to stop in. We would love to see you!
Rachel has talked or emailed with Jeff Johnson about golfing on Sun. AM,
so there will be some planning going on in that neck of the woods.
There is a rental place here in Mankato that we will be checking on
renting some fun games for kids and adults...they had a huge list and if
affordable, we would like to get at least a couple. There is some
serious fun potential with the things they have to offer!!!
Bert got a quote from a printing co. here in town on the Memory book,
but I also ran into Michelle Mullerleile (sp?) from the class of '81 and
she said that she would print the book for a good deal for us too
...so, Bert will be calling her and they can hash is out and let us
know what is going to work.
We put the down payment of $200.00 down on Camp Patterson.
At our next meeting we will be solidifying food and beverage costs and
working on our next to final mailing.
PLEASE let us know if you have anybody's address that we can't find. I
think that we have done very well with everyone's cooperation, but we
still need to get a few more out there.
We also talked about signage going out to Camp Patterson, so no one gets
lost.
This is the time when a lot of things won't be finalized until we get
real close...we have good notes, but some of the stuff can't be done
until we are a couple months away.
Well, that was just a short re-cap of the meeting. Nancy Williams'
little girl Alexia made her first appearance "out of the womb" and she
is too cute!! She is very healthy and so quiet....how do I get one of
those....??? Consider my gene pool...probably won't happen!!
Take care out there and know that we appreciate any and all help,
concerns and ideas!
I will be in touch after the next meeting too...
So long for now....way past my bedtime ! I know you can all relate, even
if you don't admit it!
Mary (Cline) Cook
-----Notes from the webmaster (AKA Drew)-----
As Mary stated, I was in town for the holidays (well, Bloomington,
actually but I had to drive my brother home to Mankato) and I managed to
hook up with Mary, Sandy, Rachel, Roberta and Nancy. I had a great time
and had a smile on my face even after being singled out to be searched
at the airport prior to boarding for my trip home. A special thanks to
Paul for buying a round. We made Paul an honorary committee member!
Again, thanks to Mary, Rachel, Roberta, Sandy, Nancy and Paul for
brightening my holidays!!!
Also, as Mary stated, ideas and suggestions are always welcome and can
be e-mailed using this address or by using the form on our website at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com so send your ideas in! Also, be sure
to check out the MIA list and if you have any contact information on
these people then we want to hear from you.
As for our website itself, it seems to be quite popular with an
averaging 10 hits a day. We have surpassed 1600 total visits which tells
me that you all are checking back for the latest information. I will
update the site when we have the next meeting location nailed down.
(Sandy, hint hint) I will keep adding virus information as it becomes
available since that feature has become rather popular.
I've decided that during the reunion itself I will be taking digital
photos and uploading them to the site from my laptop for those of you
who won't be able to make it. I am also looking for more content for the
site so if anybody has something they would like added feel free to
e-mail me. Graphics, pictures...even any memories of school you'd like
to share.
That's it from my end. Be sure to keep checking back at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and while you're there drop a note
on the message board or guestbook. Hope your holiday was great and that
the new year finds you well.
Drew
December, 2001
Happy Holidays everybody!!!
Several things to mention. First, congratulations to
fellow committee member and classmate Nancy Williams on the birth of
Alexia Kay. Both mother and baby are reportedly doing quite well. You
can leave a message for Nancy on the bulletin board by going to
https://westclassof82.tripod.com/msgbrd.htm and clicking on the
link. Again, congrats Nancy!!!
The next meeting date will be Sunday, January 6, 2002
6:00 PM At Rachel Jensen Mueller's home. All are invited to attend and
if you'd like directions to Rachel's home go to
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and click on the link on the left
to e-mail her.
Drew is reporting that there is yet another nasty
virus making the rounds. It is doing some serious damage to corporate
e-mail servers so Drew urges you to check out
https://westclassof82.tripod.com/virus.htm for the link on the virus
information as well as a fix. Lately several classmates have e-mailed
viruses by accident so he urges you to keep your anti-virus software
up-to-date. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail him at
a_sine@hotmail.com.
That is about it for now. Everybody on the committee
wishes you all the happiest of holidays!!
The Committee
November, 2001
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Just a few notes. Because of the quickly approaching holiday season the
reunion committee won't be meeting until sometime in January. When the
date becomes clear we will update the site with the information and
e-mail you. In the meantime, keep checking back at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com for the latest tidbits.
Our webmaster (AKA Drew Sine) recently stumbled upon East High's class
of 82 reunion website. Drew e-mailed their contact, Heidi with the
suggestion that they link each our sites and Heidi graciously accepted.
They have a great site and we encourage you to check it out at
http://eastclassof82.tripod.com and check out their MIA list. If you
recognize any of the names and know how to contact them then please
click on Heidi's e-mail link and drop her a line. The East class of 82
will most certainly be doing the same.
That is about it for now. The committee wishes each and every one of you
the warmest of holiday seasons. We'll be in touch with you all very
soon.
The committee
-----Notes from the webmaster (AKA Drew Sine)-----
Ummm....go Bears?
October, 2001
Oct. 18, 2001
Greetings, all!!!
Here's hoping that all of you and your families are well and that the
terror that happened to our country on Sept. 11th, has only made us
stronger! I apologize for not getting a newsletter out after the last
meeting. As with many of you, Sept. 11th set us back a bit at work and a
lot of things went hooey on me, so the newsletter got put a bit lower on
my priority list. Not that it isn't important!!!
I will recap both meetings for you all and give as much detail as I can
without boring you or providing bathroom reading material!
Berta Jensen created the postcard imprint for us and those 200 plus home
addresses that we have, will be sent post card mailings this week. We
ran into a small label problem that you may notice when you get them,
but we feel that we remedied it at our last meeting.
Sandy Mohr is checking into a magician for the kid entertainment with a
contact she has, I am also chacking into some other contacts for kid
entertainment. We checked into getting a large tent to use on the lawn
in front of the "big house" at Camp Patterson. We will have to purchase
one if we see the need. That decision is still up in the air.
We are cancelling the reservation for Friday nite at Camp Patterson and
having everyone find their own lodging that nite. Nancy Williams will be
checking into a camping website that we can link up to this website so
that people can have that option too.
The festivities have been voted to continue on at the Circle on Friday
nite. We feel that the access to the back room with an exit to a tent in
the back parking lot, we will have ample room. There are many reunions
who do this and has been very successful!
Still checking into hog roast prices...I got a quote from a man in No.
Mankato and he said it would be about $700.00 to feed 200-300 people.
We have a memory book from the class of 81's reunion from this summer
and we have gotten some good ideas out of there, however, if anyone has
any ideas that they would like to see in the book, let us know. We are
also checking into who we could afford to print the books.
Jenni is checking on pricing for the later night snacks for Sat. nite
too.
The next meeting is Nov. 4th at Rachel's house. Email her for directions
by going to our website at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com and clicking on the link.
Well, that about sums it up. Still checking on a lot of stuff. And we
are still way open for ideas and suggestions. Thanks to you who have
already suggested many things that have been discussed or emailed
between the committee members. I am getting some emails from long lost
classmates and I love it!! So good to hear from all of you and would
love to hear from anyone if they have a minute to say howdy!!
Keep in touch and keep checking the website. Drew is doing a fantastic
job of updating and thinking of cool enhancements, so it's always fun to
check once in a while to see what he has come up with.
On behalf of the committee.....we wish each and every one of you happy
days ahead and keep thinking positive about the reunion ! We would love
to see all of you. Let us know if you have any updates for the MIA list
and keep sending those cards and letters !!!
Adios for now,
Your ever-so-faithful chair...Mar
----------Notes from the webmaster, AKA Drew----------
I do appreciate the comments on my work on the site but admittingly I
haven't done much lately. Since the 9/11 events took place I've been
quite busy with the creation of an inventory of spare computers and
parts, (yuk) spending more time with my kids while the ex works late
because of added security measures (yea, like AT&T Broadband is real
high on a terrorist's list) and the general day-to-day things.
Right after the tragic events happened I noticed a lot of sites posting
information on how to help with money, donating blood, etc. after
mulling over it for a few days I decided not to post a link. I figured
that we all have been a bit overwhelmed by it all and that it would be
nice to have a small distraction in our lives that is positive and would
give us something to look forward to. If you would like to see a link or
some sort of memorial then please drop me a line at this address and I
can come up with something. Remember,
http://westclassof82.tripod.com is YOUR site!
Attached below are the pictures of the postcard being sent out by the
committee. Many thanks to Mary and Berta for the design and mailing of
these cards. Obviously alot of work went into the postcards. Alot of
talent, too! I'll also be posting them on the website in the next few
days as well as bad e-mail addresses for when I get this returned. If
you know the person and have a valid e-mail address then please let me
know. Also, keep checking the MIA list. I'd like to see it gone by the
end of the year.
That is about it on my end. I hope you are all safe and well. Please
forward this e-mail on to whomever you think might benefit from it.
As usual, if you have any thoughts, questions or comments then we'd love
to hear them so drop us a line.
Peace!
Drew
September, 2001
Greetings, everybody
As of this writing, there have been several events going on. First off,
congratulations to Colleen Yee Swedberg and her husband on the birth of
their son, Jackson. More information can be found on our message board
at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com so drop in and leave a message for
her.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Dan Mundahl and his family on the
passing of Dan's father. Mary Cline Cook will be making plans to send a
floral arraingement to Dan. If you would like to contribute, please
e-mail Mary at
mmcook@cgintl.com.
Our newsletter has been delayed due to recent events in New York and
Washington, D.C. The committee will get the newsletter out as soon as
possible but in the meantime we are asking any classmates that live in
the affected regions to post a short message on our message board to let
us know you are ok. For all of you affected either directly or
indirectly by the tragedy on the east coast, our hopes and prayers are
with you and your families.
Yours in unity,
The Committee
August, 2001
First of all, thanks to everyone who
is helping us locate the mia's...we are really trying to get it all
together so that we can mail or email an official "20 Year Reunion"
bulletin in Sept.
Drew now has the official mia list and will be updating that as he sees
fit. So great to hear from all of you, keep passing the word and
emailing us those reservation forms!
We have a few notes to bring to you from the last meeting...We are only
going to reserve Camp Patterson for Sat. nite and are still going to
hold the Friday night "gathering" at the Circle, in North Mankato. We
will be saving $400.00 that we are looking forward to spending somewhere
else!
Berta Jensen is putting something together for our bulletin and we will
discuss that in Sept. at the meeting on the 5th at her house. We will
also be assembling it at that point so that everyone can get it by the
end of the month.
We are looking into having a link on our website to some campgrounds
around the area, for those who would like to camp on Friday nite.
Check-in will be on Sat. AM to noonish (or whenenver people get
there)at Camp Patterson.
The hog (or whatever else is on the menu) roast will begin about
3ish...there will be all day activities by the lake and we are also
checking into some entertainment for the kids in our group. We will
continue funning at the lake till the sun and sand get the best of us
and festivities for the evening will probably begin around 6 or
7ish...maybe a band, maybe music in background, etc.
You may vote on the entertainment you would like by going to the site
and clicking on the link "Opinions Needed! and go from there. Then we,
as classmates will bond until wee hours in the morning with snacks
being served about 9ish ! We are checking into the Beer/Root Beer truck
possibility to have at the lake too.
Please keep in mind that we, the committee, still meet once a month and
your input is vital to our decision making. We can't honor everyone's
request but we can't even attempt it if we don't know about it!!
We are all thrilled about the job Drew is doing to help us with the
website and always checking into different ways to find the mia's.
At the next meeting we will be discussing:
*Assembling the bulleting (postcard, PDF format, which means you will
need Adobe Acrobat reader)**Webmaster's note: I will have it available
for download on our website**
*Reunion Book
*MIA list
*Hog Roast costs, extras
*Pricing on snacks for Sat.
*Beer/Root Beer truck prices
*Big top tents for coverage outside in case of rain
*Kids activities and pricing
*And anything else that comes up.
We would love to see anyone who would like to join us at any of the
meetings, or call us during the meeting and give us your thoughts too!
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, September 5th at 6:00 pm.
Roberta Jensen will be hosting at her home so go to
http://westclassof82.tripod.com to e-mail Bert for directions.
Committee...sorry if I forgot anything for now, you can yell at me
later!!
Thanks again for all of your support in our MIA list!
We will be back again next month with more goodies!!
Your 20 year reunion committee
*****Notes from the webmaster (AKA Drew)*****
In the course of 24 hours the committee has had numerous replies in
regards to the MIAs. You all have managed to really pleasantly surprise
me with your quick action in this. Thank you all very much and thanks to
the committee for your compliments.
As stated before, you can also vote for both your entertainment
preferences Saturday night as well as what us non-golfers would prefer
doing while the golfers are out doing their thing. Be sure to check out
http://westclassof82.tripod.com for all the latest info. As more
questions arise I will be posting more polls so keep checking back.
Many of you were added to our e-mail list because I needed to
consolidate all the info I had and thus you were automatically added to
receive our e-mails. If you would prefer to unsubscribe to our
newsletter then simply hit your reply button and say you'd like to be
removed. I now have the ability to keep both the contact information and
the subscription list seperate.
Finally, the website itself has had almost 700 hits in the few short
months it has been up. The word is getting out. Keep passing the word
(and our e-mails) to whomever you deem should have it. And oh, lets see
some more people sign the guestbook and bulletin board!!!
Until next month!

July, 2001
Hi everybody!
The committee has been hard at work already. We are focusing on finding
all those missing in action. We are doing pretty well and will finalize
our list at the next meeting on the 14th of August at Nancy Williams
residence...if any of you would like to attend! We also need all of your
help with contacting anyone on that list, so please make sure you
contact us either on the website or by mail when the list is posted on
the website.
The dates for our 20th reunion are July 5, 6, and 7, 2002. We reserved
Camp Patterson from Friday noon till Sun. noon. There has been other
reunions here and have always said to be so much fun...and we wanted to
be on that list !!!
There are many sleeping facilities there that can bunk up to 160 or
so...so if you are in the mood to camp out for the weekend, Lake
Washington is a perfect place for us and the whole family can enjoy it
all weekend too. We are encouraging you to put this weekend or as much
of it as possible, on your vacation calendar next year !! We are working
hard so that we can "reunion" with as many as possible, all weekend
long.
I think that the whole committee would agree with me that we are very
excited about seeing everyone again !! It has been 10 years and maybe
more for some that couldn't make it to that one either. We would love to
have a good turnout, but we need everyone's help to do so.
Saturday afternoon will be a hog roast for the classmates and their
families. Saturday night will be an evening for the classmates and their
spouse/significant others. Details on this event are undecided
yet...There is a pit for a bonfire, there are canoes and there is a
public landing for those who want to bring boats, jet skis, etc. We will
be thinking about other activities for the kids on Saturday as well.
There is also room for campers and tents, but we will have to monitor
this as the room does run out at some point !! The webmaster will be
creating an online quick form to fill out to better understand you
intentions of either camping out, bunking in with us or staying
off-site. Keep checking back at
http://westclassof82.tripod.com for the form as well as updated
information, pricing, etc.
We don't know costs for anything yet...still making more plans...always
like to hear input and suggestions. I feel that now that we have made
the decision to have it at Camp Patterson, half of the work is done !!
We have many topics to discuss at the next meeting and as it gets
closer, we will know more. If you would like to attend the next reunion
committee meeting at Nancy Williams' home, go to the website and click
on her e-mail link for directions.
Well, I think I covered most of what I know about the reunion so far.
Any ideas or comments are always welcome to anyone on the committee or
on the website. Pass the word about the website and visit it often...our
fellow classmate Drew Sine has graciously accepted the task and thought
of the idea to begin with. We can't thank him enough for his time and
talent !! We are hoping this tool sets us apart from other classes to be
able to contact most of our classmates.
Hope everyone is well and make sure to pencil the reunion on your
calendar!!
Your chairperson-in-training !!! (thanks to those poor Jensen twins)...

***And now, a few notes from our webmaster (aka Drew)***
Greetings all,
As Mary mentioned, I'll be putting together an online form for you all
to fill out as to your intentions. When this form goes online an e-mail
will be sent stating as such. We ask you to take a moment to fill it out
and submit it as soon as possible so we have an idea who will be staying
where.
Also, watch the website for a list of our grads that is "Missing In
Action". If you see an MIA and know how to contact him/her then please
drop us a line.
Thanks to Mary for the compliments on the site. Really, it isn't a big
deal to maintain. I update it from the office when work is slow and
lately I've been incredibly bored. That is why you'll see some new
things such as a message board, guestbook and our personal realtime chat
room. In the future I think it would be fun to get a bunch of us in at
one time so watch
http://westclassof82.tripod.com for a scheduled get-together so we
all can catch up.
The message board is there for everybody to post messages to other
grads, start a new thread or say whatever is on your mind. Just keep it
g-rated since my 10-year-old daughter has taken an interest in my
handiwork. :-)
The guestbook is just that...a plase where you can just say hi or
whatever else is on your mind. You can sign it and read it so drop us a
line.
Is there anything else you'd like to see on the site? Just e-mail me at
westclassof82@hotmail.com and I'll see what I can do. You can also
have your pictures posted on the website as well so send me one or more.
Lastly, please pass this e-mail on to any of our fellow grads who might
not be on the mailing list. Encourage them to sign up with us as well as
with classmates.com. I'm the reunion contact and as such will notify
them via that site of our latest plans. Drop any of us a line at
westclassof82@hotmail.com regarding the reunion, questions, comments
about anything or to just say hi!
Remember, the next committee meeting is August 14 at Nancy Williams'
house. E-mail her from the website for directions to her house. The next
newsletter will be shortly after the 14th. Until then...
